- You will receive a calendar each month indicating the themes we will be focusing on, snack days and any other important information for that month.
- Snack days will be rotated between the students and the teacher. The snacks do not need to be elaborate or expensive. Your particular snack day will be noted on the calendar. (Please, no cupcakes. They are very messy and the children lick off the frosting and usually leave or crumb up the rest.) After the first day of school you will be given a class list indicating the number of children in the class and any dietary restrictions if any.
- When it is your assigned snack day, your child can bring a "secret in a sack". Place an item to be shared in a paper sack and write two or three clues about the item on the outside of the bag. During lesson time, your child will read ( with my assistance) the clues on the bag and the class will try to guess the item.
- Please bring personal toys or other items (including food) only when participating in "secret in a sack".
- Children learn a great deal from our daily play activities. Playing with play dough, finger painting, drawing on the sidewalk with chalk, singing, reading books, planting flowers in the garden, pretending to be firefighters, or making snow angels are typical activities that we might do. I strongly believe that children learn by doing and try to provide activities that are appropriate for children of different ages and interests. As these activities can be a bit messy, I encourage you to dress your children in comfortable, washable play clothes every day.
- We make lots of art projects and other items to take home, please make sure your child has a backpack or bag to put things in. I try to keep things until they are dry so some days there will be lots of papers and other days there won't be any. This is a great way to help your child understand responsibility and to begin getting ready for "real" school.
- I try to take the children outside everyday for fresh air and exercise. Often we will bundle up and go outside on cold days for at least a few minutes. On warm, sunny days we may spend a lot of time outdoors. If you have special requests regarding outdoor play (such as using sunscreen, insect repellent, etc.) please let me know. The weather changes quickly, please make sure your child has a jacket or other attire that is is appropriate for the season.
- Please do not park in my driveway when dropping off or picking up children. This is for safety reasons.
- If you need to call during preschool time, please call my cell phone as I will not leave the children outside to come in and answer the phone. Also, there will be some situations where I cannot answer the phone at all - please leave a message.
- If you write a check for tuition, please make the check payable to Allison Bartolo.
